Middletown, Pa.- Wednesday February 10th, this evening the Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball team took on Marymount (Va.), the top team in the conference. The Lions stayed strong throughout the first half before the Saints began to pull away in the second. Marymount went on to win, 68-50.

The visitors came out hot in the opening minutes with an early 6-0 run. Harrisburg's Brittany Ulrich (Lebanon, Pa. / Lebanon) stepped up with her first jumper of the night to slow down the Saints. Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area) followed with a layup to bring Harrisburg within four. With four minutes to go, Harrisburg forced a shot clock violation against the Knights to slow their momentum. Lucky Snypse (Philadelphia, Pa. / George Washington Carver) came up big with two straight buckets before the end of the first. Marymount responded with their own four point run to open the second quarter. Kiara Carter (Bronx, N.Y / Milton Hershey) banked two layups back to back, bringing the visitors lead to 22-18. Ulrich sank her second jumper of the game to tie the game up for the first time with five minutes left in the first half. Marymount came back with an eight point run to regain the lead. Harrisburg trailed at the half, 36-26.
As the second half got underway, Carter came out hot with four straight points of her own, bringing Harrisburg eight points behind the visitors. Sophomore Janel Brown (Gaithersburg, Md. / Magruder) sank the Lions first three of the day with 5:17 to go in the third. As the second half progressed, Harrisburg struggled to keep the ball and put points on the board. The women were limited to nine points in the third but came back strong in the final quarter with 15 points. Marymount's third quarter lead proved to be too much for Harrisburg. Carter led for the women with 17 points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Lions will hit the road on Saturday February 13th to take on St. Mary's (Md.). Tip-off is scheduled for 2 pm.
