Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Dallas Pa, to take on Misericordia in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) south softball championship. The 7th seed Lions fell to the 2nd seeded Cougars 7-1.
The Cougars showed they were deserving of the 2nd seed as they jumped on the Lions scoring four runs in the first two innings taking the lead 4-0. After a scoreless 3rd the Cougars scored a pair in the bottom of the 4th of increase their lead to six. The Lions where able to make some noise at the plate when Riely Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono) hit her 6th home run of the year to score Harrisburg's only run of the day. Misericordia added one more run in the bottom of the 6th before shuting down the Lion's bats taking the game 7-1.
After the heartbreaking loss the Lions will look to rebuild for next year and continue their success they had this season.
