YORK, Pa. – It was announced on Wednesday, Apr. 23, that Penn State Harrisburg junior Gabrielle Wolfe (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) was named to the Capital Athletic Conference's (CAC) women's softball all-conference first-team as voted on by the head coaches of the league's eight programs. Thanks to her stellar 2014 campaign, Wolfe, along with freshman golfer Tyler Shank (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area), this week became the school's first student-athletes to earn CAC all-conference first-team status.
One of this season's team captains, Wolfe currently leads the Lions in RBIs with 24 and slugging percentage (.677) and ranks second in batting average, hits and runs scored. She's also hit 16 doubles on the year; that number is tops among CAC players. Inside the circle, she's won four games this season and leads the team in strikeouts with 55; a number good enough to rank her ninth best in the conference.
Along with Shank and Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball player Will Doyle (Franklin, Va. / Tidewater Academy), Wolfe became just the school's third student-athlete to earn CAC all-conference honors of any sort. She recently recorded her 200th career strikeout, the second-highest total in program history, and her .65 doubles per game average currently ranks her second in the nation.
