NEW ORLEANS – The Unites States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its 2019 all-academic individual recipients. Penn State Harrisburg men's track & field athlete Alex White earned the organization's all-academic recognition for his stellar performance in the classroom this past season.
White capped his junior campaign with a ninth-place finish in the long jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in May after winning a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship in the event earlier in the spring. The Mifflintown, Pa. native earned outdoor all-region recognition in the long jump after securing the same honor for the high jump during indoor competition. He also won CAC indoor gold in the high jump in February and was named the conference's field athlete of the week earlier this season.
A total of 462 men earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual honors. To qualify, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and met either of the following athletics standards: competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship; finished the regular season ranked in the national top-35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-25 in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
