Sophomore Joseph Phifer (Union, N.J / Union) traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete in the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Phifer has been a standout for the fledgling track program at Penn State Harrisburg. In the first year of the program, Phifer set the bar vary high becoming the first Lion to compete in both the indoor and outdoor ECAC Championships for track and field. After qualifying this past Friday when he competed at University Park, Phifer was poised and ready for the Championship. With a qualifying time of 1:53.00 Phifer was placed in the third and fastest heat for the championship, but with strong competitors Phifer took seventh overall with a time of 1:53.39, three seconds behind the winner of the event.
Phifer set the bar high in year one of the Penn State Harrisburg Track and Field program and the teams will look to improve upon their performance and success as they enter year two.
