Five Lions Named to CBN's Division III Players to Watch List

TUSCON, Ariz. – With the 2021 campaign tentatively scheduled to begin in the coming months, five Penn State Harrisburg baseball players were recently named to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division III Players to Watch List.

Seniors Tyler Aug, Zach Gettys, Tyler Jackson, Michael De Leon, and Bret Williams were included among the nation's elite on the publication's watch list.

The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division III Players to Watch List is selected annually by NCAA Division III coaches from across the country and compiled by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

TYLER AUG | C | POMPTON PLAINS, N.J.

Through 10 games in 2020, Tyler Aug was off to a tremendous start, slashing .345/.462/.621 with an impressive OPS of 1.083. The catcher hit two home runs and added a pair of doubles last spring. The Pompton Plains, N.J native scored 13 runs and drove in seven more to go along with 12 walks and two stolen bases.

ZACH GETTYS | SP | YORK, PA.

Zach Gettys appeared in three games a year ago before the season was prematurely cut short. He logged two starts and tallied 11 strikeouts in 10 innings of work. In 2019, the lefty was especially impressive, earning six victories and racking up 73 strikeouts. That spring, the York, Pa. native was named to the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) All-Conference Second Team for his efforts.

TYLER JACKSON | RP | PITTSTON, PA.

Tyler Jackson makes his second consecutive appearance on the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division III Players to Watch List after earning the same distinction a year ago. The reliever made three appearances in 2020, earning one save and recording eight strikeouts in seven innings thrown. In 2019, the Pittston, Pa. native made a program-record 25 appearances, struck out 37 batters, and earned four saves.

MICHAEL DE LEON | SP | YABUCOA, PUERTO RICO

Due to the shortened season, Michael De Leon made just one start last spring, throwing 6.1 innings and striking out four batters. During the previous two campaigns, the hard-throwing righty was as strong as any hurler on the pitching staff. The native of Puerto Rico made a combined 19 starts and recorded eight wins while racking up 88 strikeouts during that span.

BRET WILLIAMS | OF | MOUNT CARMEL, PA.

Making his second consecutive appearance on the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division III Players to Watch List, Bret Williams is coming off a blistering start to the shortened 2020 campaign. One of the nation's top players, the outfielder slashed .472/.525/.887 with an outstanding 1.412 OPS through 12 games. The 2019 first-team all-American hit five home runs and added seven doubles to go along with 17 RBI and 14 runs scored. The Mount Carmel, Pa. native was recently named to the D3baseball.com All-Decade Team after earning CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition last spring.

Penn State Harrisburg was ranked No. 27 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's 2021 NCAA Division III Preseason Poll. It is the program's second consecutive preseason national ranking. While the Lions' most-recent campaign was cut short due to COVID-19, the Blue & White put together an historic 2019 season that saw them earn a berth in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and win a program-record 33 games.
