K&W Engineers Makes Generous Gift Towards Construction of Multipurpose Turf Field

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg was the beneficiary of a generous gift from K&W Engineers that will enhance and expand the school's newest athletic facility.

K&W Engineers has pledged $50,000 to Penn State Harrisburg for the construction of a new multipurpose turf field. Phase one of the project included the laying of a turf surface, upgrading of lights and construction of a new scoreboard. Further phases will include the addition of stadium-style seating, locker rooms and restrooms. Thanks to K&W Engineers' generosity, the College moves closer to its fundraising goal to complete all phases of the project.

The facility will serve as the new home of Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's soccer and will provide additional practice space for additional sport programs at the college.

"As a Penn State grad with a passion for soccer, I am excited to be able to give back in a way that also connects to my professional experience," said co-founder and owner of K&W Engineers Marc Kurowski. "K&W designs environments for performance and has a strong foundation in athletic facility design serving a wide variety of schools, universities and communities. Penn State Harrisburg student-athletes are excelling in the classroom and on the field. We are excited to join other donors who see the value of nationally-recognized athletics in the Capital Region and help provide the student-athletes with facilities they deserve." Kurowski is a Penn State Harrisburg alum, having earned his bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering in 1992.

With the new partnership now in place, the company will also sponsor the K&W Performance Student-Athlete of the Week; a new feature to be shared on the Penn State Harrisburg athletic website and its social media platforms beginning next fall.

"We couldn't be more excited about how alumni and friends of the College are coming forward to support the growth of our athletic programs," said Penn State Harrisburg Director of Athletics Rahsaan Carlton. "The 2019 men's soccer team reached the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. This multipurpose field will greatly enhance the overall experience of our students who participate in varsity, intramural and club sport programs. It will also provide us the opportunity to explore a wide array of programming options in the future."
